What are the different types of Track Chains?

Different Track Types

  • Sealed Track: Uses steel spring washers as seals to protect the lateral loads on the bushing and link and help prevent dirt and debris from entering the inside of track bushing
  • Sealed and Greased Track: Utilizes a POLYURETHANE SEAL between the track link and the end of bushing. The area inside the bushing is packed with grease which helps reduce noise, internal wear, frozen joints, and increases durability which extends the life of the track. This track is primarily used on excavators
  • SALT – SEALED AND LUBRICATED TRACK: Has special seals and thrust rings to seal the link bore to the track bushing creating a protected space around the track pin which is filled with oil. This is primarily used on dozers and virtually eliminates noise, internal wear, and pitch extension. Dramatically increases the life of track and reduces maintenance and collateral damage to other parts from a “snaky” track

  • EWL-EXTENDED WEAR LIFE TRACK: These have taller track links which increase the amount of wear material extending life of link and balancing the wear ratios with other components  Typically made for hydro-static track loaders which run at higher speeds and have a faster wear rate on links.
